Mande Juruni’s City Oilers battle university side KIU Titans in the Airtel National Basketball League as DMark Power coach Bernes Ankunda and his team travel to neighbouring Kenya to send off Kate Wanjiku Ankunda the late wife of Bernes who passed away on Friday.
Power who were set to play KIU today had their second game in a week postponed by FUBA a decision that paved way for KIU Titans to face City Oilers instead and incidentally one of the five losses City Oilers have registered this season came against KIU Titans in the low scoring first round match up. Francis Kasekende scored 22 points on that night as KIU edged City Oilers 48-47.
City Oilers coach Mande Juruni though, says his side will not be affected by the sudden change of fixtures. ‘’We have been training normally and we are not bothered about which opponent we face,” Juruni said yesterday.
Oilers are averaging 72 points per game only behind Dmark Power’s 79. KIU Titans meanwhile are letting in an average of 54.1 points only worse than UCU Canons’ 53.6 points
Besides UCU Canons that has beaten City Oilers twice, the team has not lost or won twice against matches they have faced over the two legs.
The other game (Marines and Charging Rhino) pits teams with an identical record of 4-14 both to looking sealing their play-off place as the eighth seed. Rhinos beat Nkumba 58-52 in the first round for their first win of the season and have gone on to beat every team below them on the log.
