World Cup qualifier
Senegal v Uganda
Uganda Cranes are due in Marrakech, Morocco this Thursday morning, for an all-important must-win World Cup qualifier against Senegal this weekend.
The Cranes have camped in Istanbul, Turkey since beating Botswana 3-1 in a friendly in Gaborone at the weekend and Micho is in no doubt it has been an apt preparation ahead of Saturday’s must-win World Cup qualifier against Senegal.
“Many people have not given us a chance,” said Micho, adding, “But I want to look to positives that I will do together with your support. Let’s try to inject that positive energy to our players with belief that we can get the result against Senegal.
The first leg group match between the two ended 1-1 in Kampala and the Cranes will go into this game knowing they must register their first ever victory over the Lions of Teranga if they are to make the final stage of World Cup qualification.
The match was initially scheduled to take place in the Guinean capital, Conakry but FIFA alongside CAF decided to move it to Marrakesh.
Senegal are currently serving a home-ban imposed on them last year by FIFA after crowd trouble followed their failure to beat Ivory Coast and qualify for the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations finals.
English-born South African referee Daniel Bennett, 37, who has been an international referee since 2003 will be in charge of the game and will be assisted by fellow countryman Zakhele Siwela and Kenyan Marwa Range while Victor Gomes will sit in as the fourth official.
Out of 25 players, Micho will pick 21, with the other four returning home today as the rest of the team fly to Marrakech.
