Ugandan Mission Driver Busted For Drink-Driving

Authority police has this morning arrested a chauffeur for the Ugandan Mission for DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) in Fort Lee near the George Washington Bridge. This is according to Cliff view Pilot a news portal.

The authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said that an officer directing traffic stopped 41-year-old Elly Agaba just before 8:30 a.m. for driving the mission’s 2010 Mercedes Benz through the “zebra stripes” on the approach to the bridge.

The officer quickly noticed that Agaba a native of the western Ugandan town of Kanungu was intoxicated.

He then blew a .21% on a breathalyzer test, nearly three times higher than the legal limit of .08%.

The U.S. State Department and the mission were notified of the arrest.

Agaba, who he said has a New York State driver’s license, was charged with DWI, careless driving and failing to obey pavement markings.

He was processed at the Port Authority’s administration building on Lemoine Avenue and released pending a court appearance.
