Two suspects are in Police custody on allegations of gang-raping 13 women and girls in Bugiri town council.

The South Eastern regional police spokesman Samson Lubega identified the suspects as 19-year–old Ben Waita popularly known as Gaddafi and Godfrey Wandera who is aged 32.

The suspects are residents of Nabukalu village in Nabukalu Sub County in Bugiri district.

Lubega said that the two were arrested on Saturday morning after they reportedly raped five women in Naminage village Kapyang Sub County in Bugiri district.

Lubega narrated that the rapists broke into seven homes in Naminage village defiling girls, raping women and stealing property.

Aaron Kisubi, one of the victims of theft and whose wife was also raped, intimated to us that the two broke into the house at 9pm. They talked to the people in the house saying they were ghosts sent to the village by one rich man. They called all women and girls to come to the sitting room before they began raping them.

After the attack they went off with a 21-inch television, a digital versatile disc player, a radio player and three mattresses.

Samson Lubega said that three other cases of rape were reported in March this year.
