Kampala University squandered a precious lead away to Nkumba University and was beaten 2-1 ON Thursday that meant the Ggaba would have to wait till final matchday on becoming the first team to win the University Football League title in their debut season.
Matthew Odong put Titie Kamala’s KU who have led standings the entire season ahead in the in the 44th minute before substitute Vicent Onyango scored at the hour mark and the stalemate was finally ended in the 87th minute with a goal by Makeera Shakulu sending the Nkumba University fans wild in celebration.
Nkumba have not only ended Kampala University’s unbeaten run but have closed the gap on the table leaders to 1 point.
Nkumba now second on 31 points one off Kampala need one win against Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) to stand a chance of lifting the title on goal difference.
