NSSF Torch Awards On Thursday

National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda is set to recognize the most valuable personalities and projects in Uganda that promote the social and environmental well being of the communities  at the Torch Awards this Thursday .

“This is an initiative through which the Fund will recognize and support projects run by institutions or individuals that have transformed communities and made a difference through those projects,” NSSF Managing Director Richard Byarugaba says.

The award ceremony will take place on October 24 at 6 p.m. at the Sheraton, Rwenzori Ballroom with Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda the guest of honour.

Torch Awards

In line with its CSR agenda, On October 4, 2012, NSSF launched The Torch Awards, an initiative through which the Fund will recognize and support projects run by institutions or individuals that have transformed communities and made a difference through those projects in the fields of youth, education, health and the disadvantaged.

  1. The Fund before they launch torch awards, should re-examine their policy of paying out to clients who permanently move abroad, without unnecessary ‘kiremya’. The other day a dude went to to claim for what is due to him after he got a permanent job abroad, and with all the documentary evidence. He was told application would have been favourably considered if he had a ‘green card’ because without such, it is likely he would return to work in Uganda. And unfortunately for the dude, the country where he went to work does not have ‘green card’ system. Reminds one of the tricks of some insurance companies when it comes to ask for compensation!
