Uganda Cranes and Amavubi Stars of Rwanda have unfinished business. The countries, who drew 2-2 in their last international friendly; February 06th in Kigali, then Uganda went ahead and snatched their talented Serbian tactician in Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. Now the Rwanda FA has written to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to have their team play the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup champions on October 15th at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole or maybe to settle their scores.
Mujib Kasule, Chairman of the technical committee and Vice President in charge of the league, told sources on Tuesday morning that they had received the request from their counterparts.
“We are sitting down as a committee and decide if we can host them,” said Kasule.
He added that they must put into consideration the financial implications before going ahead with the game.
“These friendly games are very important to prepare our team for the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and the 2014 Africa Nations Championship,” said Kasule.
The Rwanda FA President, Celestin Ntagungira, also said they are looking forward to the game as it will be a return leg following the friendly between the two sides in Kigali in February.
The Cranes had two international friendly matches against Egypt last week that they lost 2-0 and 3-0.
But head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic said the games helped his youthful players get international exposure ahead of two big tournaments.
