A relation gone bad led to the brutal murder of James Nasawa, a resident of Kisali village in Bugitimwa sub county whose suspected killers are being held by Sironko Police.

The suspects are Stephen Kayengere a resident of Buwadenye village in Bugitimwa Sub County and the deceased’s wife Anna Mary Wanyenze. Hussein Kato Matanda, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner says the deceased was attacked by panga-wielded men who hacked him to death in his house on Saturday night.

He says Stephen Kayengere who they are treating as a prime suspects has been rivaling with the deceased over Wanyenze Anna Mary. Matanda explains that Wanyenze first got married to Kayengere but broke after a domestic misunderstanding and got married to the deceased.

He says that since then, Kayengere has been in bitter dispute with Nasawa over the woman. Matanda says that a few days to the gruesome murder Kayengere raided the deceased’s homes and hacked more than seven cows to death before fleeing into hiding.

He says preliminary investigation show that Kayengere and two others are responsible for the death of Nasawa. Matanda says the suspect and his former wife will help police with investigation into the murder. He says police are also trailing the suspects’ accomplices who are still on the run.

The two suspects are being detained at Sironko central police station as investigation into the incident continues. Matanda has condemned the gruesome murder killing. He is also worried at the increasing rate of such killings in the area. He says most of the murders are committed under the influence of alcohol.

In 2010, Sironko ranked top on the list of districts affected by gruesome murders.
