Cricketers In Dubai For ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers

Uganda’s senior cricket team Monday morning landed at the Dubai International Airport (DXB) in United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the global International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 Qualifiers that will start from Nov 15.

A 20-man contingent was on Sunday officially flagged off by Richard Mwami, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) chairman at a farewell breakfast at the National Council of Sports (NCS) hostel.

Uganda plays the hosts United Arab Emirates in the 2nd Group A match in Abu Dhabi at 06.00GMT on opening day before facing Hong Kong the next day.

Mwami promised Shs50m (an estimated $20,000)  if they finish among the top six and secure a spot to Bangladesh for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in February 2014.

The trio of Australia-based pace man Patrick Ochan, off spinner Frank Nsubuga and captain Davis Karashani, Uganda’s bowling up front in the power-play (first six overs) and at the death will be tested fully.
