Record champions Falcons Basketball club beat rivals Riham Warriors 80-66 on Wednesday night at YMCA court in the most significant contest, Game Three to surge into a 2-1 lead of their the Castle Lite playoff semifinal series.

KawesuInspired by veteran Stephen Omony’s timely offensive runs and lay-ups meant favourites Warriors trailed for the first time their playoff national semifinal series.

Warriors took Game One 76-75 on the back of Henry Malinga’s foul basket with eight seconds to play which needed the umpires to consult before giving it but faced their biggest defeat to Falcons; a 14 points difference way off the combined five points have decided the first two games of the Castle Lite playoff semifinal series.

And it even got easier as the Falcons welcomed back Rwandese import Serge Kabangu from a four-game suspension for Game 3.

Kabangu, who was slapped with the ban following an altercation with UCU Canons’ Martin Okwako in Game 1 of their playoff quarterfinals, strengthened coach Gad Eteu’s rotation and create another threat for the defending champions.

Meanwhile, defending women’s champions KCCA Leopards wrapped up their playoff semi-finals against the Magic Stormers when they won 80-72 in the night’s opening game..

KCCA won the best-of-five affair 3-0.
