Uganda’s super lightweight boxer Fred Muhumuza has beaten Kenya’s Patrick Amote on points in a 10-round continental elimination fight last Friday at Club Obligato.

Muhumuza is unbeaten in five fights since he turned professional five years ago. Amote’s last trip to Kampala ended in defeat to Ugandan Isaac ‘Zebra’ Ssenyange.

“I know what it meant to win a fight convincingly here at home and am thankful to God for this victory,” Muhumuza said after the fight.

In the undercard bouts puglist Sula Segawa beat Congo Brazaville’s Herve Zongo in an eight-round bantam weight non-title contest while heavyweight boxer Hudson Muhumuza, also thumped Kenya’s James Omoro.

At Hilton Hotel,Aya,Uganda’s Musa Batantu lost to Ireland’s Beijing 2008 silver medalist Kenny Egan on points in a charity 6 round match.
