Following Jas Mangat and Zambian Jassy Singh’s debacle in the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally, Mangat is once again condemned to produce a quick result use in order to seal the 2013 Africa Rally Championship in the Madagascar International Rally that flags off Friday.
Although Mangat and his co-driver Gihan Da Silva are still in a podium position if Singh also fails to finish, the PiliPili driver can’t take chances in the bumpy 450km rally.
Mangat borrowed a Subaru N12B from Yves ‘Joda’ Ranarivelo, a five time winner of the Rally of Madagascar and will be hoping the first Ugandan driver to win both the National Rally Championship (NRC) and African Rally Championship (ARC) in the same season.
Of the 450km, Clerk of the Course (COC) Jimmy Rakotofiringa, confirmed 210km of will be special stages. The rally has 11 Special Stages (seven different) with the longest stretching up to 37km whereas the shortest is 1.270km.
And the race heads to the city center tomorrow where competitors will battle for over five Special Stages (SS) totaling 110km, with 240km of road sections before heading East of the capital Antananarivo on Sunday where drivers will compete over four SS totaling to 97km, with 175km of road sections.
