Pepsi University Beach Soccer Finals
Mubs 5 – 3 Nkumba
On an outrightly memorial Ugandan Sunday this year as thousands of people converged at Owiny Primary School in Panyango Sub-county in Nebbi district to watch the hybrid eclipse, one of the rarest types known in Astronomy, Nakawa based Makerere University Business School were being crowned beach soccer champions following a 5-3 victory over Nkumba University at Lido beach Entebbe.
The scenes of jubilation that greeted the lakeside sand pitch from Mubs fans after the final whistle, summed up an incredible afternoon that was a fitting finale to the two day the Inter-University Pepsi Beach Soccer Championship sponsored by soft-drink company Pepsi.
Sixteen Universities took part in the gala organized by the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA).
Mubs coach Charles Ayiehko could only look beyond Ugandan sands after the victory; “My players are among the best in the country and hopefully we can represent Uganda at the World University Games and other internationl events,” he told RedPepper Online on Sunday.
The next World University Games will be held in 2015 in Gwangju, South Korea.
