GOtv CECAFA| Kenyan Police Hunting For Missing Eritreans

Just as the GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup is a known annual fixture, Eritrean players going missing at the tournament is fast becoming a yearly date. Kenyan Police has intensified the hunt for the players.

EritreaNews  in Nairobi today was of yet another case of two missing Eritrea players, the fifth year running the team is being embroiled in such incidents.

The Cecafa central organizing committee sitting at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday morning has been briefed on the mysterious disappearance of the two Eritrean players from their camp at Milele Hotel, although identities of the missing players remained unclear by press time.

Federation Kenya Football (FKF) National Executive Committee member Elly Mukolwe made the revelations to the committee chaired by Abdiqaan Said (Somalia) and attended by the Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.

“The two players are said to have gone missing after their evening training session on Saturday,” said Cecafa media officer Rogers Mulindwa.

A dozen Eritrean players also disappeared from their residential hotel in Kampala last year. The current matter has been handed over to the relevant security agencies.

Meanwhile, four matches that had earlier been scheduled for Nyayo Stadium between Wednesday Dec.4th and Thursday Dec. 5th have been moved to Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Musonye said the teams that will have advanced to the knock out stage from Nakuru will be airlifted directly to Mombasa, a designated venue for the quarter finals.

The semifinalists will, thereafter, be flown to Kisumu and back to Nairobi where the finals will be played.
