High riding Harambee Stars beat Sudan’s Falcons of Jedaine 2-0 on Thursday evening in the GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup final at the Nyayo National Stadium to lift the title for the first time in 11 years.
Captain Allan Wanga scored a brace, in the 34th and 68th minutes.
Head coach Adel Amrouche, 45, maintained that his key focus was to hand Kenya a perfect 50th birthday present by winning the title. “I told my players to give Kenya a perfect gift. The country is turning 50 and it is important to win the tournament for Kenya” he said.
By all accounts, Stars defence has been the meanest in the tournament conceding just once.
