“We look forward to share with all Ugandans the opening of KFC which is a historic landmark in Uganda,” said Paul Mwirigi the head of Marketing at Knight Frank Uganda

The KFC fast food restaurant is located at the Village Mall in Bugolobi and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, United States (US).

It is the world’s second largest restaurant chain overall (as measured by sales) after McDonald’s, with over 18,000 outlets in 120 countries and territories as of December 2012.

KFC was founded by Col Harland Sanders, an entrepreneur who began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression.

The first KFC franchise was opened in Utah in 1952. Sanders identified the potential of the restaurant franchising concept, and the first “Kentucky Fried Chicken” franchise opened in Utah in 1952.

After 61 years of service, KFC will be opening its doors in Kampala today.
