Kampala Capital City Authority FC  star midfielder Tom Matsiko and URA goalkeeper Brian Bwete have been dropped by coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic ahead of next month’s CHAN.

After the single Christmas eve training session, Micho alongside his technical team of assistants, Kefa Kisala and Fred Kajoba reduced the squad from 30 to 26 players.

The other axed players are Bwete’s club-mate Oscar Agaba and Ismail Kazibwe of Vipers SC.

First assistant Kefa Kisala, who spoke on behalf of Micho to the players said they were dropped not because they were not good enough, but because of time constraint, assuring them that sooner than later they will again be invited to the national team under the present scheme of things.

“We urge you to return to your clubsides and continue to give your best and we will keep monitoring your progress for the future”, he said.

Striker Frank Kalanda, who opted to travel to Vietnam for trials will also miss the CHAN tournament together with team captain Hassan Wasswa, who has since absconded from his Club KCCA FC and the national team.

The Cranes have been pooled alongside Morocco, Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe for the CHAN competition.

In the first edition of CHAN in Khartoum in 2012, Uganda was eliminated at the group stages.
