Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has commissioned a team of parliamentarians to review the case of a 23 year old girl Zainabu Mbabazi who was reportedly Gang raped by five Pakistani nationals.
Mbabazi was reportedly gang raped in July 2013 by the Pakistani men who lured her into their trap under the pretext of getting her a Job.
She was yesterday found rotting at good Samaritans home in Bagdad Lugazi cell, Mbarara municipality by a team from Uganda Women Parliamentarians association.
In October 2013 the story of her rape went viral attracting sympathy and support from different organizations and individuals. The last physical appearance was at Action Aid Uganda where she was being helped to recover. However it remains unclear how Mbabazi ended up in Mbarara.
Asiati Ngamba the lady who has been accommodating Mbabazi at her home says she was forced to seek help from the speaker of parliament because of Mbabazi’s complicated condition.
Ngamba adds that Mbabazi complains of constant abdominal pain, a nonstop discharge of blood and fecal matter.
On Wednesday a team of MPs under Uganda women parliamentarians’ association were sent to Mbarara town to follow up the matter.
They were led by Sheema Woman MP Rosemary Nyakikongoro who pledged total commitment to the pursuit of justice for the victim
Winnie Kiiza the opposition chief whip blamed Government for covering up foreign investors who sexually molest Ugandans in the name of providing them with employment.
The girl who cannot sit and stand on her own has now been transferred to Kampala for further treatment and care.
