Mayombwe celebrates after scoring for The Saints
The Saints ended the first round of the FUFA Big League with a convincing 2-1 win over Wandegeya at Namboole on Tuesday afternoon.
Farook Kawooya took advantage of a bungled clearance by Wandegeya defenders to run at the keeper and slot home early in the first half as the Saints make an easy meal of Wandegeya and its array of seasoned senior players.
The Saints could have doubled the scoreline and even tripled it had Nicholas Odong and Alex Kitata taken their chances.
First half ended 1-0.
The Saints got their second goal from Cres Mayombwe who tapped in after the Wandegeya keeper Pilo Seguya failed to deal with a shot from a Godfrey Buni free kick.
The Saints controlled the game thereon and Wandegeya got their consolation from Tom Muwanga who headed in from a corner that shouldn’t have been given because the ball had clearly gone out of play when Saints’ Brian Mukasa was judged to have made contact with the ball.

The win, takes Saints to 14points, seven adrift of leaders Lweza FC who are at 21.
The Second round of the Big League resumes in February and the transfer window will open from 1st January to enable team rebuild there squads.
