Lweza United’s silky forward Arthur Ssemazi has hailed Kajjansi club’s team spirit after a vital 2-1victory over FUFA Big League Rwenzori group table leaders Baza Holdings on Sunday.
Rajab Kakooza and subsititute Fred Kalanzi’s bravery was rewarded in the second-half as they scored in 68th and 74th minutes, capping off a performance of endeavour from the Entebbe road based club to claim three vital points.
And delighted with the victory against big-guns, former SC Villa star Ssemazi said to Red Pepper Online edition in an exclusive interview: “As a team we are very strong. We showed that on yesterday (Sunday), you can’t pick out a stand out performance, it was a team effort.
“Since I arrived, the team spirit has been fantastic and the camaraderie is very good between the boys. There is a strong relationship between the players and the coaching and I think that makes us work as a unit.
“It was a very important three points that came at the right time for us.
It’s a victory that sends Lweza into a frenetic festive period full of confidence, finishing as table leaders on 21 points ahead of the second round fixtures in 2014.
“We’re happy to be top of the group,” said Ssemanzi. “We’ve got some difficult games coming up in the second round so the win over Baza was important to give us confidence heading into the pursuit for automatic promotion.
Semazzi has previously played for K.B Lions, URA, Bunnamwaya and Victors. He still had two years to go on his Police contract before Villa bought it out in August 2012 before joining Lweza later in 2013.
