A 50-year-old man has died in Lwengo district after taking part in a drinking competition.
The deceased is Emmanuel Sserwada, a resident of Kyakanyomozi Village in Kiseeka Sub County. Sserwada was found dead in his house this morning after taking part in a drinking competition on Sunday evening.
It is alleged that during the competition, Sserwada took 10 tot packs of waragi before retiring to his home.
His neighbor who declined to be named said that the deceased was known for participating in alcohol drinking competitions. He says the deceased and his friends have been joking that doctors instructed them to drink a lot.
Paul Wataka, the Lwengo District Police Commander has condemned drinking competitions and cautioned residents against joking around with their lives. He says once abused alcohol is deadly.
Sserwadda says the deceased’s body has been handed over to hospital for a postmortem as investigations continue.
The incident comes barely a week after Emmanuel Tayisiri, a resident of Kasaana Village in Matete Sub County in Ssembabule district was also killed by waragi.
