The Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) management committee has this morning made changes to positions being held as committee chairpersons.

These include changes to Public Accounts Committee which now falls to Alice Alaso formerly held by Kassiano Wadri. PAC vice chairperson remains Paul Mwiru. Wadri moves to head the Government Assurances Committee with his vice chairperson being Isaias Johny Ssasaga.

Ssemujju Nganda has been chosen to head the Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE). The COSASE vice chairperson is Democratic Party’s Florence Namayanja.

Former Opposition parties Chief Whip Winnie Kiiza heads the Local Government Committee. Her vice chairperson is Uganda People’s Party (UPC) Maxwell Patrick Ebong Akora.

Currently the National Executive committee is sitting to give views on the proposed names.

The opposition is given 4 committees of which the largest opposition party being FDC is supposed to fill but also includes members of other political parties

The positions are changed after every 2 and a half years.

  1. Is it the Semujju Nganda we know to head a commission? Surely this is by default. Democracy can surely create strange bedfellows.
