Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni has advised members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) to desist from forming cliques warning that the party’s patriotic forces will defeat the ‘clique schemes’.
The president who is also the chairman of the NRM gave this warning on Friday while making his opening address to the NRM parliamentary retreat at Kyankwanzi national institute.
NRM leaders on Thursday began their week-long retreat that among others will receive a report from scientists on whether homosexuals are born or made.
The report follows a request by President Yoweri Museveni for scientific proof on the cause of homosexuality before he assents to the Anti Homosexuality Bill that was passed by Parliament in December, 2013.
Earlier David Bahati, the Deputy Government Chief Whip said the Caucus will review the progress and challenges of the party’s work in all sectors using the manifesto as a benchmark.
According to Bahati, the review will guide the ruling party on areas that need fast tracking. It will run under the theme; “The NRM Manifesto 2010-2016, Progress, Challenges and Opportunities.
