Fire At Mulago Destroys Property Worth Millions

Carpenters and traders at Kubiri -Mukwenda Zone are counting losses after an early morning fire that gutted their carpentry workshops and cooking places.

Food centers, timber and machines used to mold and drill furniture are believed to have perished in the early morning tragedy.  The fire was however put out before spreading to nearby buildings.

Nsubuga Mathew, the manager of the machine center, one of the fire victim’s suspects they have lost over 20 machines. Each machine costs UGX 15 Million.

Nsubuga who still doubts the cause of the fire explains that by the time fire brigade arrived at the scene, the merchandise was already destroyed by the flames.

Muwanguzi John, LC5 Councilor in Kawempe South commends the Police Fire Brigade for acting swiftly saying without their effort, nearby buildings like the Main Road Hostel and Haruna Towers would probably be in ashes too.

Another victim Jingo Innocent, a carpenter dealing in office desks and school furniture narrates that although they could have been in position to save some property, the alert came in late and nothing could be done.

  1. Ugandans should learn to be serious, how dare can one place machines worth of millions in makeshift shelters, I do not even believe whether they are insured, we should learn to live in modernity
