The presence of national team players Denis Iguma and Savio Kabugo is expected to inspire SC Victoria University when they host DR Congo side CS Don Bosco in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Sunday.
CS Don Bosco holds the advantage after winning the first leg 3-0 in Lubumbashi last weekend. But the SC Victoria University team that is appearing in the CAF competition for the first time has promised to give it their best fight.
Iguma and Kabugo missed the first leg after getting suspended when they failed to report to camp on return from the Africa Nations Championship in South Africa with the national team.
“These two players will boost the team because they have the experience and will help to push the other players,” coach Morley Byekwaso said after the morning training session on Thursday.
“We need to score in the first half to put Don Bosco under pressure,” said the coach, who also added that he might ring some changes in his starting team.
First choice goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, who pulled a muscle in the first leg, will miss the game, while Ali Kimera will be called in to take charge.
Lamine N’Diaye, CS Don Bosco’s coach, is expected to have three Zimbabwean stars Darryl Nyandoro, Christopher Samakweri, Carrington Gomba and Lungu Luka (Zambia), who scored one of the goals in the first legs to start the match at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
