Police are still hunting for Richard David Olanya, a prime suspect in the murder of Joseph Bigirwa, the Officer in Charge of Kajjansi Police station during a botched robbery at a pump fuel station last week. Olanya is said to have evaded arrest during a raid by the Flying squad at Kyangwali refugee settlement camp.

He is suspected to have fled with the pistol that belonged to the late Bigirwa and is still at large. His accomplice David Oroma was picked up while attempting to sneak from Hoima Hospital, where he had undergone surgery for the gunshot wounds he sustained in the gunfire exchange with the late Bigirwa.

Charles Kataratambi, the commandant of the Flying Squad disclosed last week that they had managed to recover two South Sudan registered guns during the raid on Kyangwali refugee settlement. He explained that despite the fact that Olanya evaded arrest, they managed to arrest Catherine Lamaru who was forcefully married by the suspect.

According to police, during the botched Kajjansi robbery Olanya and Oroma teamed up with other robbers such as Dan Kawuki, Salim Juma, Doka and Arthur Tamale, who was released recently from Luzira. Others are Abdallah Birya and Kamanda Sinani. The gang has been behind the two robberies in Iganga, One at Capital Markets Forex bureau in Rubaga and a mobile money shop in Ndeeba.
