Ugandan Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has been put under pressure to resign after a section of Legislators accused him of using NRM structures to destroy the Party and to campaign against the Party chairman Yoweri Museveni.

This was raised during the NRM Caucus Meeting at State house Entebbe throughout Tuesday. The meeting which was sitting for the second consecutive day was called reportedly to advance a resolution endorsing Yoweri Museveni as a sole contender for the presidency in 2016.

On Monday, a similar meeting ended prematurely after Mbabazi was grilled on his ambition to stand against President Yoweri Museveni in the Forthcoming polls. It’s reported that Mbabazi then excused himself from the meeting without offering substantive answers.

The audio recordings were presented in Tuesdays Caucus meeting and played before the members. In the recording, Mbabazi was reportedly pinned for mobilising supporters in different parts of the country to strategise for his presidency come 2016.

It is further said that President Museveni then told the Caucus that Jacqueline Mbabazi, the premiers’ wife and Hope Mwesigye, a former minister were key in causing intrigue among NRM members.

A source revealed that in the recording Jackline mbabazi states that Museveni is aged, out of ideas and is no longer in control of the country.  She also points out that Amama Mbabazi was treated unfairly in the Kyankwanzi retreat.

However, Mbabazi denied knowledge of the said recording and refuted ambitions of standing against his long time ally Yoweri Museveni. He told the meeting that his wife was mobilising youth in protest against the ‘Kyankwanzi-Ngoma Resolution’ of having Museveni as the sole NRM candidate contesting for the Presidency.

It’s also reported that MPs came up with a motion to move a vote of no confidence against Mbabazi demanding his resignation from the office of the Secretary General. However the motion collapsed when MPs failed to gather evidence against Mbabazi as an individual.

President Museveni however warned members against dividing the party and also noted how he has been working with Mbabazi over the years. Mps were told to go back to constituencies and neutralise the intrigue eating up the party.

  1. Mbabazi is no longer trusted by the President. He should resign and join the opposition or the next reshuffle will see him left in the cold. Let him resign before he is sacked.

  2. One can easily tell that Mbabazi has plan B from the way he had destroyed party structures and disorganised NRM Primary elections ,while working as party’s general secretary. But Ugandans are ready to choose the best leader.

  3. Overtime, i have to the conclusion is actually a sober headed man who probably deserves a chance to govern Uganda and Shame on ‘NRM’caucus who think Museveni is the only one who can lead uganda…i cant imagine people can be soo…narrow minded.

  4. when he was talking of eating oppose-rs as samosas he was clapping hard and harder and now for those of saying that he resigns from that office you are giving in the man to be eaten as one so the better he retains both titles
