The former SC Villa player made a winning debut in the Major League Soccer after making a substitute appearance for Seattle Sounders in the 2-0 win over Montreal Impact last weekend.
Troy Perkins’ eighth minute own goal and Martin Obafemi’s goal on the 58th minute helped Seattle Sounders win.
“I am having a great time in MLS since moving early this month. It’s great here and the lads are great too,” said Azira.
Azira, 26, started three of six appearances for Sounders FC during the 2014 preseason. He spent the previous two seasons with the Charleston Battery of USL-1, scoring seven goals in 46 appearances. Azira helped the Battery win the 2012 USL-1 Championship, scoring the game-winner in the final.
He played collegiately at Lindsay Wilson College and University of Mobile, where he earned NAIA All-America Honorable Mention. The native of Kampala, Uganda, was called into the Uganda team for a 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Senegal.
Ex-Cranes skipper Ibrahim Sekagya is another Ugandan player featuring in the MLS for New York Red Bulls.
