Sports Club Vipers coach Edward Golola has praised his side’s fighting spirit as they maintained top spot on the FUFA Super League Log with a 1-0 win over Express FC in a match played at the Buikwe Stadium.
Farouk Miya the all important goal that also ensured the Buikwe based side grabbed their first win after returning to their home ground since November 2013 and move 40 points, one ahead of Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club who also registered a 1-0 victory away to Simba FC.
“It was a great game from my boys; they stuck to the plan and I am happy that it worked out well. Before the game we had spoken as a team and I told my players that Express was a strong team but also beatable and they promised me a win in my first game in charge.
“They did well; they approached the game with a winning mentality and kept the spirit throughout, from defence to attack all was fine and it is all thanks to God that we got the first win of the season, he told Red Pepper Online Sport.
In-form Eria Ssekisambu scored for URA FC who have now gained their momentum since the second round kicked off. “We shall keep working hard to win all our games in this second round that is very tight,” said URA Coach Paul Nkata.
Kiira Young also moved to third place after a 2-1 victory over Bright Stars. Moses Ndawula netted a brace for Haruna Kebba’s team, while Sula Ssebuuza pulled one back for Bright Stars FC.
In the other games played Ronald Nyanzi scored a hat-trick in their 4-2 win over struggling Proline FC. Umar Kasumba scored the other goal for Police, while Ibra Sendi and Henry Lopidia were on target for Proline FC.
Sports Club Villa also settled for a 1-1 draw with Jinja based Bidco, while bottom placed CRO FC picked their third win of the League after seeing off Masaka LC 2-1. Ivan Lubaale scored a brace for the home side, while Edward Musisi scored for the visitors.
