The Ugandan government is expected to present its findings today into the death of six people at Mulago National referral hospital last week due to lack of oxygen.
The country’s Health Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda informed plenary on Tuesday that a team led by Dr Jane Aceng, the Director General of Health services was already investigating the incident.
Rugunda disclosed this after Moses Kasibante, the Rubaga North MP raised the death of the six people at Mulago as a matter of national importance.
He identified three of the deceased Nicholas Kiiza, Zaituni Nakawuki and Mariam Awol. Kasibante questioned why Mulago National Referral could lack Oxygen a basic necessity of life.
In his response, Rugunda noted that the death of the patients due to lack of oxygen was regrettable but said government had set up a committee to investigate the tragic incident. He promised to present substantive report on the incident in parliament later today.
