PICTORIAL: Thrills In Masaka As Sebuguzi Draws First Blood

Jomayi sponsored driver Ronald Sebuguzi navigated by Cedric Buzabo in the Mitsubishi Evolution 9 won day one of the  2014 National Rally Championship opener in Masaka Misali.
Ssebuguzi beat new kid on the block John Consta by 10 seconds  but Consta told sportsmaniaug.com that he  took easy because the race had just started.

The cars will drive the longest competitive section-82kms and Consta says Sunday could separate men from boys.

“We are lucky that we have managed to finish here but our strategy is to push as hard as possible on day two (Sunday).

The 82km section is the determining factor. Anyone who manages to do well in that section will be the favorite,” said Consta.
With a small crowd at Misaali,  Veteran Wycliffe  Bukenya thrilled fans especially in corners outshining fans favorite Duncan Mubiru ‘Kikankane’ whose Subaru N14 failed in the second run when the fuel pump dysfunctioned.

The surprise Package was Jonas Kansiime co-driven by Joseph Bongole after emerging fourth beating Fred Wampamba in a Subaru N8.  Wampamba, lost a turn in the first run.
Kansiime said that he is going to play cat and mouse tactics    waiting for the top guns to make mistake so that he gets an advantage.

Former champion Nasser Mutebi  in a Subaru N8 had a dreadful day emerging 21st out 23 drivers.
