TP Mazembe Step Up Chase For Dan Sserunkuma

Congolese giants TP Mazembe are ready to launch a sensational swoop for Gor Mahia’s Ugandan striker Dan Sserunkuma for as much as Shs1Billion.

SserunkumaThe Lubumbashi based club is lining up an eye-watering transfer kitty to reshape their squad in June and refight for continental glory, and according to reports the young Uganda international is high on a list of their targets.

The Congolese side has had scouts to Ndola in Zambia last week and later to Kenya to observe him though formal talks have not as yet been opened though the former African cha According to an unnamed source the Congolese club is already exploring means in which the striker would be utilized at the team with an option being to have him as a supporting striker.

“Sserunkuma could move as early as June. I think his camp has been notified (of the interest), but formal negotiations are yet to start with Gor. Officials from Mazembe are using one or two Kenyans to try and push a deal. He is an accomplished forward, but at Mazembe he can play as a support striker understands.

“They will take care of him well. The club at times pays in parity with European clubs, the source said.

Sserunkuma was the subjected of a botched transfer attempt in 2013 as a number of European clubs showed interest to get him though Gor Mahia were not too willing to release their man. He would later play a crucial role as the team won its first league title in 18 years. mpions are said to have been on his trail for the last two months.

Also on their radar is Tanzanian giants Simba SC’s talismanic Burundian striker Khamis Tambwe and this season released Uganda Cranes midfielders Patrick Ochan together with Mike Mutyaba, for non-performance. Mutyaba only joined TP Mazembe four months ago from El Merreikh, while Ochan joined earlier from Simba.
