The inaugural national university basketball league started on Saturday with Ndejje defeated hosts Makerere 59-57 in a tight mouthwatering game in the men’s fixture while in the women category, Makerere Sparks whipped Ndejje 53-25.

The first ever university league in the country will be officially launched next Saturday at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono.

NUSFU president Peninah Kabenge said that numerous talented players in the country are not accommodated in the national league activities organised by FUBA and the presence of the university league will help identifying more talents for the nation.

“We are just adding value to Ugandan basketball by capturing those untapped talents upcountry where the sport is not taken by FUBA maybe because of logistics,” Kabenge stated.
