This follows a successful weekend of fancy basketball that was punctuated by an energetic performance from self-styled hip pop rappers, Martha Oceans and Foreva.

Kampala University and Cavendish ladies’ teams open up with an early morning fixture.

‘We are ready for the battle and challenge. It is always exciting to play in the ZUKU Basketball championships’ said Christine Kide KU’s administrator ahead of the event at UCU.

Cavendish University, 54 – 35 winners over Uganda Martyrs’ University (UMU) Nkozi last weekend will enter the mix next but this time against Ndejje University, one of the league’s finest sides.

Ndejje University head coach, Obedi Walker boldly asserts that he will take the fixture like any other competitive game.

‘We can’t afford to falter. We respect all our opponents and hope to approach every game with a great but planned strategy’ said Obedi.

Big man James Okello and the lanky Geoffrey Soro will be out to inspire Ndejje University.

The hosting University, UCU backing on their famous passionate home crowd is expected to reserve the best in form of entertainment and the positive result quest for the last hour as they engage Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) in a battle that many would wish to catch.

It is so much predictable Nick Natuhereza, coach at UCU will use this fixture to test the confidence levels of his troops.

UCU will rely on the offensive expertise of forwards Jonathan Egau and Amos Okello Okongo  for inspiration on home turf.

However, Natuhereza cautions his charges against complacency.

‘Sometimes, it is not good to underrate a team. It all happens and ends on the court. We shall give our best’ said Natuhereza.
