Kenyan sides Papa and Chui completed humiliating 10-3 and 25-6 defeats over makeshift Uganda Franchises Hima Rwenzori and Protector Victoria in the Bamburi Rugby Super Series Tournament respectively at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Saturday.
Both sides played without national team players who URU kept away from the risk of injuries which they could sustain in the Bamburi series yet they usually made up half of the franchises’ starting teams.
The early kick off saw Kenya’s Bollore Chui register a 10-3 win over Victoria Protectors, a match that saw Chui score two unconverted tries with Solomon Okia drilling home a solitary penalty for the home side. Chui skipper Duncan Ekasi was voted man of the match in this encounter.
The second match saw Kenya’s Papa Nguvu dominate their hosts Hima Rwenzori posting a 25-6 result. Papa scored three tries courtesy of Bush Mwale, man of the match Augustine Lugonzo and Jacob Ojee. Michael Wanjala managed two conversions and two penalties. Al Hajji Manano scored a drop goal with Brian Atubikire managing a penalty for Rwenzori.
Victoria on Saturday face Ndovu away in Kakamega while Rwenzori will rest till Saturday May 17 when they face Kifaru in Nakuru.
