Micheal Birungi Coy On KCCA Future

Kampala City Council midfielder, Micheal Birungi, is coy on his future after reports linking him with a move away to Kenyan giants Gor Mahia as well as Simba SC of Tanzania and says his concentration now is winning the league with KCCA.

Birungi, whose contract runs out in June 2014, rejoined the club from a season-long loan stunt with UTODA in 2012.

Speaking to Red Peppr Online, Birungi said that his concentration was on winning the league, and not on his future.

“It makes me happy that the fans sing, “We want the league again”. It gives me so much of a buzz when I go on to the field. It gives me an even greater desire to improve myself, so I’m grateful to the fans for their courage. I’m very content to make them happy.

“At the moment, though, my only concern is the present and what’s happening now. I’ve not spoken with anyone, neither about my future or my contract.

“Sure, it pleases me to know that other clubs want me, but I repeat – I’m only thinking about what happens on the pitch and winning the super league, he said.

KCCA top the FUFA Super league with four games to go and on Saturday overcome a hard battling Lweza football club side in the last quarter final of the Uganda Cup played at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The victory courtesy of a Tom Masiko penalty and a Herman Wasswa goal booked KCC a semifinal clash with the cup’s defending champions, Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) to be played over two legs.

They play former champions Express in the league at Lugogo on Tuesday.
