The Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) today unveiled National Social Security Fund (NSSF) as its new sponsor for the Volleyball National team and National League, which will now be called the NSSF Volleyball League.

UVF and NSSF have agreed on a high profile title sponsorship of Shs60 million per season that will cater for technical equipment, officiating, teams and referees’ jerseys, hire of the stadia and the league publicity among others.
It will also cover the national team’s expenses such as players and coaches’ facilitation, team jerseys, track suits, training and publicity.
The Fund already have a strong association with volleyball as sponsors of the Kampala Amatuer Volleyball Club (KAVC) International Open for the last six years.UVFF
“With this sponsorship, we hope to rally the country around the volleyball national team. We are mindful of the fact that development of sports requires a concerted effort, so we call upon Ugandans to support this effort,” NSSF Ag. Managing Director Geraldine Ssali at the launch.
UVF runs the national league with 3 tiers: Serie A, Serie B and Serie C for men; and Serie A for Women. The league kicks off this Saturday on April 19, 2014 with a host of games and ends in late October 2014.

However, some club officials are not satisified with the way UVF handled the negotiation for the Shs180m deal citing lack of transparency and the league winners settling for a trophy and the medals but no prize money as it has been in the past.
