Uganda Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi has gone AWOL from his Tanzanian club Yanga, according to reports.
Okwi, who joined Yanga from SC Villa has reportedly not returned to training since his team played in Tanga against Rangers.
Bongostaz.blogspot.com, a soccer blog in Tanzania reported that after losing 2-1, a thing that left Azam runaway leaders, Okwi was absent and the blog doubts whether he will be available for Sunday’s game against Ruvu at the National Stadium.
But Yanga Secretary Beno Njovu dismissed the reports telling the Daily News that no player has boycotted the team’s training camp.
Everything is okay in our dressing room… In fact, the camp is going on smoothly and all players are participating except Kelvin Yondani,” Njovu said.
Azam FC leads the Premier League with 53 points after 23 matches, followed by Yanga SC with 46 points in 22 matches and Mbeya City with 45 points in 23 matches is third.
While Yanga and JKT Ruvu SC will play Sunday, Mbeya City will play on Saturday against Ashanti United at Azam Complex, Dar es Salaam.
