According to an eye witness, Olavi and a few friends were on a boat coming back from an island and they decided to stop near a shore in Munyonyo to wait for their friend Ismail Katumba who was on a jet-ski.
As they waited Olavi got off the boat for a casual swim. As Olavi enjoyed the waters, the wind and waves intensified and they displaced him far away from the boat.

Hosham Taha a friend who knew how to swim swung into action to save the life of his friend but he could not since he was also displaced by the waves.

The people remaining on the boat decided to seek help from the shore and marine police.

After two hours of continued searching, Hosham was found since he had dived with a life jacket.

Up to now the search for Olavi is still on with the help of Marine police and the local people.
