Fort Portal will be the music and art capital of Uganda this weekend as more than 250 artists descend on the Western town on Saturday 7th July from 12pm through 12am.
They are going for the Bayimba Regional Festival of the Arts at the Gardens Restaurant at an entry fee of a little 2000/=.
“It will be an entirely different experience this year,” said Philip Masembe, media and communications boss of the festival, said of the Tooro party. “It will be a different feel; the local artistes on showcase are all so talented and determined to wow the crowds. We think people like it.”
Acts include film screenings by Maisha Film Lab, exhibitions by K’la art before Fort Portal lead act Kigambo Araali alongside Tooro based Ruta cultural troupe and Engabo za Tooro take centre stage.
Other attractions at the festival include Kaz Kasozi the guiter maestro and songstress Maureen Kabasita will then headline the festival.
Bayimba also has region outreaches with art and culture activities in Jinja, Gulu and Mbale.
