Unidentified gunmen have shot dead Andrew Rachkara, a lecturer at Gulu University.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Regional police spokesperson says Rachkara was attacked by the gunmen on Saturday night as he was returning to his residence in senior quarters after matches in the ongoing World cup.
Okema explains that Rachkara was rushed to Gulu independent hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead a few hours later. He explains that police investigators visited the crime scene and recovered five bullet cartridges.
Okema says that preliminary investigations show that the deceased has been involved in a land feud and has been receiving death threats. He however says the matter is not yet clear. According to Okema, no suspect has been arrested in connection to the attack.
Khalid Mahmoud, the spokesperson Gulu University describes the deceased as a hardworking person who the university would depend on. Rachkarais a son to Santo Odoch, the administrator Gulu University Kitgum campus. The deceased has been teaching in the faculty of business and development studies.
Over the past two months, Gulu has been on a high alert following a spate of armed robberies. 11 people have been arrested and four others critically injured in connection to the armed robberies,
