Uganda vs Equatorial Guinea -Namboole
Uganda Cranes Head Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has said he is looking forward to facing Equatorial Guinea in the last preliminary tie in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
Equatorial Guinea humbled Mauritania 3-0 last evening to book a place against Uganda who qualified on Saturday after seeing off Madagascar.
“I believe in my players and with good preparations we can beat them and progress,” the coach told AfricanFootball.
The toughest task for the Uganda Cranes will be playing the last game away. But the coach thinks they will have to prepare well enough and make sure they win the home game convincingly.
“We can also go and win away,” reasoned the Serbian born coach.
Uganda Cranes who have come close to qualifying for Afcon in the last three Editions have been poor travellers for away games. The coach said they will have to work hard on the striking department which managed to score only one goal against Madagascar last weekend.
Speaking about the Equatorial Guinea team, Sredojevic said they are great individuals with touch of Spanish football which makes them a good team. Although Uganda last qualified for the Afcon in 1978, Equatorial Guinea team stopped at the quarter final stage of the 2012 Edition.
But the Cranes team will be boosted with the return of left sided defender Godfrey Walusimbi for the Equatorial Guinea match after he missed two games due to suspension.
