Teachers and pupils of Adrian Nursery School Kitovu in Masaka district were shocked this morning to find the school’s security guard dead.
Sam Lwakolo (68) was a night watchman at the nursery school in Nyendo Ssenyange Division.
It is believed that Lwakolo was attacked by robbers who went on to break into the school head teacher’s offices.
The school cook Innocent Nyanzi was the among the first to find Lwakolo’s body in a pool of blood in the toilet.
The southern region police spokesperson Noah Sserunjoji says that the robbers made away with 100,000 shillings from the head teachers’ office and airtime worth 25,000.
He says that the deceased’s body had deep wounds on the head which he sustained during the fight with the assailants.
He says that police has took the body to hospital for post-mortem as investigations into the murder begin.
Sserunjoji adds that police has also recovered the deceased’s bow and arrows he was using to guard the school.
Sserunjoji advised operators of premises like schools, fuel stations and hotels to get better armed guards.
