Pius Mujuzi, the Resident District Commissioner of Bundibugyo has been shot in fresh clashes in the district.

Bakari Mugah, the Rwenzori region police spokesperson told Uganda Radio network that Mujuzi was shot in the leg although under unclear circumstances. Reports indicate that Mujuzi has been rushed to a secret location for treatment.

Tensions remain high, the town deserted and all offices closed after a wave of attacks on security installations in Bundibugyo, Kasese and Ntoroko Districts on Saturday.

This morning heavy gunfire rocked Bundibugyo town lasting up to 30 minutes. It’s reported that unknown people threatened to attack Bundibugyo police station, but were repulsed by a combined effort of the UPDF and police. Three of the attackers have been arrested.

It has also been reported that Mujuzi could have been shot during the attack, since his office is a few meters away from the police station.

Up to 72 people have been reported dead since the attacks were launched.  Police says 22 guns have been stolen by the attackers, while up to 80 people have been arrested.

  1. This could be a tip of the ice berg to come. Instability can cause unrest among locals which turn out to be infectious to neighbourhood communities. Hopefully this be sorted out soon as we need peace in Uganda. We don’t need to fight each other

  2. Are we being told the truth and the complete truth so help me God; knowing the history of Uganda?

  3. Why would civillians attack Police stations when they even know that there is a million guns? something is not adding up… just saying, to me it seems similar to the attacks that were in the 80’s for those who remember anlyze..
