Uganda’s Police Chief, General Kale Kayihura, has reshuffled senior police officers in what he says is a move to boost efficiency. Last evening, Hajji Ali Balimoyo, the Assistant Inspector General of Police who is the Director Administration authorized the transfer of 78 officers to new areas of deployment.

The transfers affect officers from the rank of commissioner of police (CP) to the rank of Assistant superintendent of Police (ASP).

Polly Namaye, the Deputy Police spokesperson, told the media on Wednesday morning that the transfers affected Interpol, Field Force Unit, UN Mission in South Sudan, Operations Command and Welfare.

She explained that the transfers are normal and take immediate effect. She said the transfers are aimed at enhancing service delivery to the people of Uganda.

According to the reshuffles, SCP Ely Womanya moves from police headquarters to Interpol as Deputy Director while CP Isabirye Haruna has been appointed Commander of Joint Operations at the police headquarters.

CP Fabian Amadia who was stationed at police headquarters shifts to the Oil & Gas sector as head of administration while CP Venancio Tumuhibise moves from the UN Mission to CIID headquarters.

Meanwhile, in the up country shakeup, ACP Hilary Kulayigye heads to Rwizi as Regional Police Commandant, leaving Bushenyi for Paul Nkore. ACP Martin Abilu who served as head of Makerere, Wandegeya and Ibanda police stations is now the new commandant Ntinda, Naguru Barracks.

ACP Wilson Kwanya leaves the UN Mission to Aswa as Regional police commander-RPC, while ACP Simon Peter Wafana goes to the Field Force Unit from Aswa.

ACP Raymond Otika Akubu has been shifted from the UN Mission to Directorate Interpol In Department of Peace Support and ACP David Ogallo has been transferred from police headquarters in Naguru to the Directorate of Welfare. ACP Otim who has been at Ntinda, Naguru Barracks will now serve in the Directorate of Human Resource Management.

Namaye said more names on the list have been sent to the affected stations. The list also includes those who have been transferred as OC stations, regional Police spokespersons and the police department of women affairs.

The police transfers are healthy for the smoothruning of the force,however i strongly commend the police leadership right from the IGP up the field officers for the good job done on combating crimes and above all not giving chance to terorists to destablise our good country uganda.
