Malawi national football coach Young Chimodzi is confident Uganda will give them the needed test ahead of their 2015 Nations Cup pre-qualifier against Benin.
Uganda entertain Malawi in an international friendly on Tuesday at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole with both sides using the encounter to fine-tune ahead of the Afcon final round of preliminary qualifiers.
The Uganda Cranes welcome Mauritania in the first leg on Saturday at Namboole while Malawi Flames travel to Benin.
Uganda have already played two build-up games against Seychelles; winning them all 5-1 and 1-0 respectively last week.
Tuesday’s will be Uganda’s third friendly in a space of six days and Malawi coach, Chimodzi – like his counterpart Micho Sredojevic earlier said, believes this is the test they so much will need ahead of the trip to Benin.
“It’s obvious that Uganda is going to give us a good run, that’s why we are here and this is going to improve us as we go to Benin,” said Chimodzi shortly after their evening drills at Namboole on Monday evening.
“We all know Uganda is a strong side in this East and Central African region and that is why we are here. We expect a very good game which should test us both as we prepare for our games this weekend.”
Uganda and Malawi will progress to the group stage of Afcon qualification should they successfully negotiate their paths past Mauritania and Benin over the two legs.
