2014/15 Pepsi Beach Soccer League Kicks Off
The 2014/15 Pepsi national beach soccer league successfully kicked off with more excitement and thrills at Lido Beach resort in Entebbe on Sunday.
FUFA finance Director, Decolas Kizza was the chief guest at a colourful ceremony that witnessed a basket of beautiful ball skills, dribbles and eye catching strikes on the sand.
In some of the best matches played, KIU overcame new comers, Kayunga 8 – 6, Sand Pirates shocked Galaxy fm sponsored Real Galaticos 4 – 3 while Braza Braza beat Ddalumba, another new team in the league 4 – 3. 2012/13 season winners, MUBS started on a bright note after a hard fought 4 – 3 victory over Zaba Super Market in a match where Kira Young striker, Brian Nkuubi notched a hat trick for MUBS.
There was another hat trick hero from Ashadu Bugembe, usually employed as a goalie for FUFA Super league Kira Young as he helped his new team, YMCA win 4 – 3 over Stormers.
The league, sponsored by Crown Beverage brand, Pepsi will run until May next year. The best 4 placed teams per group (Hurriken and Moonson) make the quarter finals that will be followed by semis and eventually the finals.
The next fixtures will be held on the 7th September 2014.
