The musician affiliated to Golden Band, an offshoot of Eagles Production, was issued summons to appear at Luweero Central Police Station.

Nasser Ssebaggala Lubwama, a music promoter based in Luweero town, accuses Kusasira of failing to perform at a music show at Sports Gardens, Mbale municipality.

Ssebaggala says he came to an agreement with Kusasira, as a member of the Eagles Production, to perform on March 15, 2014. He then went ahead to wire Kusasira 4, 100, 000 shillings as deposit for a show that would cost him 12 million shillings.

However, Kusasira and Eagles Production failed to perform at the show because the group disintegrated  that same month. Kusasira went on, with key members, to form Golden Band while others regrouped under the Da Nu Eagles Band.

Ssebagala says the split in the band cost him business and he now wants the singer to refund his deposit plus interest.

The Luweero Criminal Investigation department boss Topher Gimei says that police has already opened up a case of obtaining money by false pretence against Kusasira and acquired additional information revealing she received the money from the complainant.

Police say the singer faces arrest on sight since she failed to turn up and record a statement in her defence.

When contacted for comment on the allegations, Catherine Kusasira switched off her phone.

Last week a priest and owner of Heart Beat Beach, Nabyewanga in Mpigi Edward Bwanika reported to Buwama Police Station that singer Jose Chameleone had pocketed two million shillings and failed to perform at a show.

In April this year Music Promoter Balaam Barugahare dragged the defunct Eagles Production and Band to Nakawa High Court demanding for 320 million shillings in damages for breach of agreement to perform. The artists later re-united and they agreed to stage music shows to pay 108 million shillings they had received from Barugahare.

  1. These should easily have been voidable embarrassments, Catherine. If you indeed received the money, you should simply have refunded the money or arranged to perform in Mbale on another day once the dust of the breakup of your band settled. Then the police summon(s) came and you ignored it. Now the police have put a “fatua” on your head and the media are already cashing in on the circus! To me the most important question is, how do you stand on stage as a role model to many; unless you don’t consider yourself thus! Four or five million UGX is very small money; pay it and save yourself and us your fans this embarrassment.
