Uganda, like has been the case for years, remains the top ranked CECAFA Nation having improved six places to land at position 81 , as per the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday 14 August 2014.
Uganda is now 20th in Africa and the double wins over Mauritania i n the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers which saw the Cranes reach group E.
Uganda Cranes are due to play five home and away matches in the Group E of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Ghana (38 now 36) on September 6, Guinea (64th and in Africa 13) five days later and Togo (87th (23) between September and November.
Having risen eight positions upwards to land at position 101, Rwanda is now the second best placed CECAFA Nation. Both qualified for the group stages of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Kenya, Tanzania – who dropped four places to land at 110 and Sudan, stagnated at position 115, complete the top five.
Globally, it was status quo as there was no movement at the top. World Champions Germany stays ahead of the pack with Argentina, Netherlands, Colombia, Belgium and Uruguay following in that order.
