Uganda National Cricket Squad For Africa Cricket Association Cup Named

Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has named the national team that will take part in the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) Cup slated for September 8-13 in Benoni, South Africa.

Former captain Davis Arinaitwe Karashani is also on the team.

Justin Ligyalingi, the UCA Chief Executive Officer, told this paper on Monday night that newly appointed South African technical Director Peter Kirsten will be in charge of the team. He said they are optimistic the team will put up a good show in South Africa.

He explained that before the ACA Cup, the team will play in the Africa Sixes Challenge tournament between September 6 and 7 in Pretoria. After the two tournaments, the team will remain camped in South Africa till September 28th being hosted by the Eastern Cricket Union.

The two tournaments will attract hosts South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Uganda. Ligyalingi said the Association is certain that the two tournaments and the training camp in South Africa will assist the team prepare well for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Division 3 tournament which will take place in Uganda between October 26th and November 2nd.

Frank Nsubuga will make his debut as skipper, while the other notable names on the team include; Roger Mukasa, Arthur Kyobe and former captain Davis Arinaitwe Karashani.
